In an effort to post content more consistently, I'm starting a weekly series called "Things I Want Thursdays." (If anyone can think of a better name, which I'm sure you can, please send it my way!) In this series, I'm going to post 3-5 things that I, well, want. Cost generally won't be considered as these posts are more about things I like not necessarily things that are practical or within my ability to purchase responsibly. That's not to say everything I post will be super-expensive, I'm just saying if it stands out to me, it stands out to me.

Anyways, I'm shooting to include three categories of items in each post. Namely, something to 1) wear to work 2) stick in your office and 3) wear on the weekend. So without further ado, read on to see what I've been gawking at this past week. As always, if you have any suggestions PLEASE send them my way. I'm always looking for feedback on what's working, what's not, and what you'd want to see.

AT WORK - Louis  Vuitton Academy Loafer

For my inaugural Things I Want Thursdays post, I GOTSTA start with good ol' Louis V. I've been keeping a closer eye than usual on the house since Marc Jacobs left his position as Creative Director (rumor has it to work on an IPO so he can bring in buku bucks like the homie Michael Kors. I think that guy became a billionaire not long after his co went public. But I digress). Nicolas Ghesquiere, former CD of Balenciaga, took over Jacobs' position about a year ago. I'm curious to see how he'll steer the storied ship that is Louis Vuitton now that he's at the helm.

The Louis Vuitton Academy Loafer (S/S '15)

So the Thing I Want to wear to work would be this pair of navy tasseled loafers in a grained suede calf leather. Louis calls it the Academy loafer, and it's absolutely stunning. It's got a great sleek, streamlined thing going on mainly due to it's low heel and long vamp (the "front" part of the shoe). The navy is an interesting, extremely versatile alternative to black or brown while the tassels lend the shoe an air of classic elegance. Blue and white is hands down one of my favorite color combinations, which is why I'm an especially huge fan of the contrast white-stitching. The stitching dresses it down such that it will work just as well at work as it would sockless on the weekend at your favorite rooftop drinks spot. The white on blue theme is expertly continued with the perforated lining of the shoe, making the shoe more breathable during the warmer months. I'm generally not a fan of logos as they're often executed in a garish manner, especially with a brand like LV. Here, however, the logo is done in a subtle, classy way which I can accept. All in all, a truly beautiful shoe. A pair of these bad boys will set you back a cool $895, while the brown pair in a pure grained calf leather costs $940. NBD amirite?

Love the beige too...but if I were rocking these I'd have to be extra careful to avoid Tabasco stains.

I don't like the brown as much

Happy Academy Loafer family.

IN YOUR OFFICE - Candles by Brunello Cucinelli

Brunello Cucinelli candles. They come in a variety of beautiful neutrals. Versatile enough to fit in with the décor of any office

Alright, so next up is something I'd like to place in my office. I'm not a candle person, but these struck my fancy when I strolled into the Brunello Cucinelli store in the West Village this past weekend. Apparently Brunello is beefing up its home wares line. I like these candles because they are large and gangster looking, but still refined. The Brunello Solomeo Crest (named for the town in Italy where BC is headquartered) is beautifully designed and one of my favorites. The crest is prominently displayed on the ceramic but still discreet enough that most people wouldn't recognize it (most unlike an LV monogram). And then you have the colors. Brunello often goes with neutral colors like gray, cream, and sand for the spring/summer. I like those colors on these candles because they'll work perfectly no matter how your office is currently painted/decorated. I showed my girlfriend these candles and she asked me what they smelled like. Quite the apt question. My answer? I really don't know. I didn't smell them, but I'm assuming good? Either way, if I'm ever buying these, it would be more for my eyes, not my nose. She also added that she "likes the teak wick because it crackles." I didn't know this, go figure! Bonus points for crackling. I also didn't know it was possible to sell a candle for so much money. These cost a baffling $230.

The skateboard's not for sale.

ON THE WEEKEND

Ebbets Field Flannels 1954 Los Angeles Angels Baseball Cap

Just as there exists the workweek, so there is its antithesis, the almighty weekend. I've been wearing suits and blazers and trousers and dress shirts five days out of the week since starting my life at a law firm, so I've found myself recently steering more towards extremely casual pieces on the weekend. With that in mind, I present to you this doooope hat by Ebbets Field Flannels. The Seattle-based company, named after the old Flatbush stomping grounds of the Brooklyn Dodgers, is in the business of expertly recreating vintage sportswear. Here, they've done a fantastic job. The hat is meant to be nearly identical to the one worn by LA Angels players back in 1954 (yes, they were the LA Angels before they moved to Anaheim). It's made completely of wool broadcloth. The retro LA logo is beautiful, and you guessed it, the blue and white color combination is fail-safe and awesome. It's simple, versatile, and really makes me miss home that much more. What's not to love? This hat will set you back $75 on MrPorter.com, but is actually sold out. You can still get its NY equivalent though. I also found one here for $50. Oddly enough, the Ebbets Field Flannels website doesn't carry it, presumably because they only "inventory two dozen cap styles at a time, which [they] rotate every few months," states the website.

Love the vintage brown leather strap secured by an "aged" buckle.

GO AMERICA!

It's NY equivalent, which I'm not as big a fan of from an aesthetic standpoint.
